I have written this blog never with the intention to hurt a believer physically or to claim that I speak the only truth in the world. I write this in the hopes that we can achieve balance and harmony with our beliefs and to never let it be a reason to hurt or discriminate others.
What are the popular Church denominations in the Philippines?
The Philippines is home to thousands of church denominations, the Roman Catholic Church, Iglesia ni Kristo, Baptist, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Anglicans, Muslims and other Religious organizations like Ang Dating Daan, Apollo C. Quiboloy Group, El Shaddai, Jesus Miracle Crusade and hundreds more that I hve not been able to state. With that one should consider this country a praying country, a religious country and yet one cannot help but get scared on the rise of Christian Fundamentalists.
What are Christian Fundamentalists?
It means any religious group that holds radical views, they can be termed as fanatics and have the tendency to create or produce unwanted behavior due to their limited perspective. A fundamentalist is any Christian whom can be considered as an extremist, this are people who believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible.1. they have zero tolerance for sexual permissiveness, which means they can hold people in contempt when they practice premarital sex, they would be calling this people unholy and dirty and they do not care for the explanation of others regarding their relationship.
2. they discriminate against homosexuals and think that they are being deceived by the Devil.
3. they believe that only those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior can be saved and will go to heaven.
4. you believe in speaking of tongues as a sign from GOd
5.Some fundamentalist Christians will not accept other people from other religious organizations, they believe that you have to be baptized first before you can become born again.
6. YOu think that drinking alcohol and wine is an act of the devil, as well as smoking and listening to worldly music and you think that only Christian music and Christian Tv channels need to be watched, you renounce the world and call it evil
7. Refusing to celebrate Christmas with your family thinking that Christmas is a paganistic tradition and can cause you to go to hell.
8. you believe in the Apocalypse, the anti-christ and suspect that some singers like Lady Gaga, Madonna and other rock artists are satanists.
9. some christian fundamentalists resists medical interventions and would postpone going to the hospital in the belief that Jesus will cure them
10 Christian fundamentalists believe that they are the truth. and that those who do not follow the will go to hell.
I do not write this to cause hatred for this organizations, I am just focusing on the fact that any imbalance in human nature can cause dangers, the Norway bomber and killer was thought to be a christian fundamentalist, he wanted to get rid off all Muslims in Norway, this is one dangerous idea. Another thing, Christian fundamentalists have the tendency to debate against other religions which can cause them to harm others, most christian fundamentalist organizations would also demand workers to submit to their faith, because if they will not do so, they will not get hired. I am speaking from fact, I have experienced this kind of craziness with one of my family members who keep on insisting that we go to Church every sunday, until 4 am in the morning. My uncle who is a pastor become so obsessed with the doctrines of the Bible, he even thinks that we are possessed by the devil, my cousins are not even allowed to watch television shows of their choice, it is a pretty scary world out there, i dont know what my uncle is thinking, Christian fundamentalists have this tendency to tell people what is right and what is wrong and this must be put to a stop.
